Tiger Cub Activities & Crafts

Tiger Cub Scouts are troops of 7-year-old or first grade boys who are involved in the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts organization provides a program for the boys that builds their character, develops personal fitness and trains them in the responsibility of citizenship. When planning monthly Tiger Cub meetings, you can prepare a variety of activities, such as crafts and games, to keep the boys busy and entertained.

Logo Crafts
- Use the Cub Scout logo to make a variety of crafts at the meetings. Give the boys a blue visor and a sheet of yellow craft foam. They can cut the logo out of the yellow craft foam and glue it to the top of the visor. Alternatively, have them glue the foam to a tote bag. Another idea is to help the boys paint the logo on a tote bag, pillowcase, T-shirt or backpack. This craft activity will also help them memorize the Cub Scout logo.
Memory Games
- Test the memory of your Cub Scouts with a few games. Have the boys sit in a circle and select one boy to go first. He must say ̶0;I am going camping and I am going to take a _____.̶1; If he says ̶0;lantern,̶1; the next boy must say ̶0;I am going camping and I am going to take a lantern and a _____.̶1; Each boy must say all items said before him and add his own item. If a boy misses an item or forgets the correct order, he is out of the game. The last boy remaining wins the game. You can also have the boys list the items in order by using the letters of the alphabet. For example, the first boy would have to say something that starts with the letter ̶0;A̶1; and the next player would have to say something that starts with the letter ̶0;B.̶1;
Camping Crafts
- Since the boys may do some camping together as a troop, allow them to make a few camping crafts. They can make binoculars with toilet paper rolls by taping the toilet paper rolls together. They can also make telescopes with paper towel rolls. Ask them to decorate the binoculars and telescopes using paint, markers, stickers and crayons.
Paper Games
- Play a game of scout bingo by replacing the word ̶0;bingo̶1; with ̶0;scout̶1; at the top of bingo cards. When you call out the numbers, you must say ̶0;S-6̶1; instead of ̶0;B-6̶1; and so on. The first player to bingo and yell ̶0;I love Cub Scouts̶1; wins the game. For another paper game, make a Cub Scout word scramble by scrambling words. Use words like Cub Scouts, honor, citizenship, trust, teamwork, troop, camping and meetings. Hand each boy a word scramble and the first player to unscramble all the words wins the game.
