Games for the TI84 Plus

The TI-84 Plus is a graphing calculator with a built-in USB port and more memory than the traditional graphing calculator. It is assumed that the improved memory should be used to save graphs, equations and other mathematical information, but for students the memory may be used to store a variety of games to help beat boredom. In order to download and play games, users need TI Connect Software and an Ion shell to allow many games to run on the calculator.

Arcade Games
- Numerous arcade games are available to download and play on the TI-84 Plus. Arcade games provide simplistic graphics that make them ideal for a graphing calculator's display. Users are able to download versions of classic Atari games such as "Pong" and Centipede". Also available for download are version of classic Nintendo games such as "Super Smash Brothers" and "Super Mario Brothers", although the graphics are much more simplistic. Users also can find takes on recent popular games such as "Dance, Dance Revolution" and "Grand Theft Auto."
Sports Games
- Sports games are an option for TI-84 Plus Users. "Big City Skater" is a skateboard game that allows players to perform tricks while jumping from rooftop to rooftop. "TI-sk8brd" is another game in which players score points by doing tricks on a half-pipe. In "Chris' Football", players try to get through a line of defense and attempt to score a touchdown. Most sports games are user-created and often contain kinks in their operation. They are not as complex as many of the sports games offered by popular video games consoles and usually only focus on one aspect of a game.
Puzzle Games
- Texas Instruments, the maker of the TI-84 Plus, offers a downloadable puzzle-pack containing four puzzle games for $2.00, as of the time of publication. Free, user-created puzzle games are also available for the calculator. Users are able to download traditional jigsaw and slide puzzle games and mazes or may opt for games that require more skill. Versions of the popular column game "Tetris" are available as part of "Tetris Pro" and "Columns." Players are also able to download versions of "Minesweeper," "Hangman" and "Lights Out!"
Board Games
- Simple board games such as tic-tac-toe can be played on the TI-84 Plus. Multiple user-created tic-tac-toe games are available to download, including "Lite 3" which promises to provide tic-tac-toe with a twist. Chess pros are able to download "Chessmaster" and "Knight Moves" to improve their chess skills. "Checkers" and "Connect Four" can be downloaded to entertain checkers fans. Versions of solitaire and the board game "Othello" are also available.
