Body Language Games for Adults

If you're looking for a fun, low-cost way to engage a large group at your next gathering and you are having a hard time figuring out what to do, then body language games may be your solution. As long as the participants in your group are willing to be creative, act a little goofy and don't mind being laughed at, the antics are sure to fly, resulting in an enjoyable time for all.
  1. Non-Verbal Introductions

    • You can kick off your adult gathering with "Non-Verbal Introductions." To play this icebreaker, divide everyone in your group into twos and instruct each person in the pair to take turns telling each other about themselves without saying a word using gestures and body language. After each duo has had a chance to introduce themselves to each other, have everyone introduce his partner aloud using the information he learned in the exercise. Allow each partner to fill in missing details or make corrections if the information is wrong.

    What Am I Doing?

    • "What Am I Doing?" is an amusing icebreaker game for groups of people that allows everyone to express his creativity and wit. To play the game, divide the players to three or four teams. Each team has to randomly select a card from a box or a hat and appoint one team member to act out the activity written on the card to the rest of the group. The cards may contain actions such as fishing, driving and cooking. Members of the opposing teams are required to guess what the person is acting out. Once everyone in each team has had a chance to act out, the team who has the majority of correct answers is the winner and is given a prize.

    Dance Charades

    • In dance charades players have to imitate well-known dances such as the Limbo, Moonwalk, Hustle and Time Warp while the crowd tries to guess what kind of dance they're performing. Dance music may be played during the game, but try not to play songs that would help the crowd guess the dance being performed. For instance, don't play Michael Jackson songs when the game participants have to guess the Moonwalk, or "The Macarena" when the dance being mimed is the Macarena. The participant who guesses the most novelty dances wins the game.

    Mime it Out!

    • "Mime it Out!" is a good icebreaker that shows the significance of non-verbal statements and. In the game, all the participants must sit in a circle, then each will have to take turns standing in the middle and mime out a significant occurrence in their professional or personal life. They will only be given 30 seconds to act out an incident and they are not allowed write or say anything while the other participants are shouting out their guesses. The game proceeds until everyone has had a chance to participate.
