Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure
Based on an IMAX movie of the same name, the Nintendo DS title lets players take control of six different sea dinosaurs and explore the ocean world. The creatures must be kept fed, avoid bigger prey and collect oxygen to stay alive. The bottom screen of the Nintendo DS features a radar map that shows where food and enemies are. The game also includes educational information about the creatures, including size, food and habits.
Dinosaur Train: Pteranodon Fishing
The PBS show "Dinosaur Train" uses CG animation and visual storytelling to teach young children about dinosaurs. Their free online game "Pteranodon Fishing" features three dinosaurs searching for prehistoric meals in a small waterhole. Players click and find fish close to the top of the water. A click sends the pteranondon down to grab the fish. Once the timer runs out, players count along with the characters to see how many fish were caught. The game is suitable for children ages 3 and older.
Dinosaur Train: Field Guide
Players learn about the the different types of sea dinosaurs in "Dinosaur Train: Field Guide." The free online game features an interactive interface where players click and scroll through different dinosaur images. An example of a sea dinosaur featured is the elasmosaurus. An "X-ray" icon shows the dinosaur's bones, the "Size" icon compares it to humans and an audio fact sheet can be played while listening.
Monopoly: Dinosaur Edition
An alternative version of Monopoly is the "Dinosaur Edition." The properties are all popular dinosaurs, including a collection of sea dinosaurs. The pilosaurus is a featured sea dinosaur in the game along with the cretoxyrhina. Player tokens come in the form of dinosaur fossils, eggs and a dinosaur claw. Some editions of the game come with dinosaur-themed dice. All of the money in the game is designed with dinosaur silhouettes and the "Chance" and "Community Cards" have dinosaur themes.
