Archery Javelin
Also known as flight shooting, it mimics the purpose of regular javelin, which is concerned with distance throws. When archers engage in archery javelin, the goal is to shoot their arrows as far as possible; for competitive purposes, the goal is to shoot much farther than the other participants. Because of the nature of the game, a very long open area is needed to allow for great distances.
Archery Darts
As the game sounds, it is basically playing a larger version of darts -- which can be found in most pubs -- with bows and arrows. Players can buy a large archery dartboard or make one themselves. The only requirement is to show the areas marked with points the same way it is done on regular dartboards, so players can compete through the scores they achieve.
Archery Golf
This is a well-known archery game and is actually played on golf courses. Archers fire their arrows toward the fairway starting at the first tee. After that they shoot arrows from the spots where each arrow subsequently lands. In this way it is the same as golf. A difference comes into play for the final shot and finishing a hole: A hole is completed when an arrow enters a four-foot circle on the green where the hole is located. Par for holes is exactly the same as golf.
Clout Shooting
Originally used in the military training of archers, clout shooting uses varying distances for men and women. Men play the game at 180 yards from the clout, and women position themselves 140 yards away. A flag stick holds a flag called the clout, which is placed low to the ground. From these distances, players must get the arrows into a circle around the clout, which has a 12-foot radius. Players who get the closest amass the most points and prevail.
