Drawing Games to Play

If you like to draw and you like to play, then you're probably interested in activities that will allow you to do both at the same time. There are several games that involve drawing that will keep your creative juices flowing while you compete against friends and family. These games are easy to learn and will provide you with hours of entertainment as you sketch, scribble and scratch your way to victory.
  1. Pictionary

    • Pictionary is a classic party game that is similar to Charades; only the clues are drawn on paper instead of acted out. The game is generally played by two or three teams competing to score the most points by guessing the word or phrase that their teammate is trying to draw on a paper in front of the team. The game can be played as an "all play" scenario, with multiple teams guessing and drawing on the same page. It can also be a turn-based scenario where one team tries to guess the answer in a predetermined amount of time.

    Hangman

    • Hangman is a simple game that requires nothing but paper, pencil and a little imagination. It provides a fun and challenging way to work on deduction skills and can provide great entertainment for kids on long car trips or for families sitting around the game night table. One player draws a simple "gallows" structure and decides quietly on a word and draws the corresponding number of black letter spaces where the word he is thinking of would fit. The alphabet is written below the gallows in small letters and the player begins guessing letters in an attempt to determine the secret word before his "man" gets "hanged." Each time the player guesses a letter, the drawing player scratches out the letter and writes it in the appropriate spaces if the letter is in the word. If it is not, he adds a body part to the gallows. If the player misses enough to gain a head, body, arms and legs, then the man is hanged and the game is over.

    Tic Tac Toe

    • Tic Tac Toe is a simple classic paper and pencil game that can be played almost anywhere. Kids have even been known to play the game on the playground using a stick and loose dirt as a drawing board. One player draws a 3 by 3 grid and places an "X" in one of the spaces inside the grid. Then the other player draws an "O" in another square. The object is to get three of your letters in a row in the grid.

    uDraw

    • uDraw is a tablet application for the Nintendo Wii gaming console for art lovers who want to take their drawing games into the video game age. The tablet peripheral works in conjunction with the Wii remote and is pressure sensitive, making it a very capable drawing tool, where the scribbles appear right on the screen. There are several games that can be used with the uDraw, including challenges to draw certain objects, to color, and even an on-screen version of Pictionary.
