Card Games
Card games revolve around building decks from illustrated cards; often these cards are collectible and purchased in random packs. The "Ben 10 Collectible Card Game" is one such example, and is based on the alien-infused T.V. show of the same name. Players assemble decks featuring the show's heroes, villains and monsters; each card has statistics which represent how efficient it is in combat, used to determine which player wins. The "HumAliens Collectible Card Game" features tradable cards based not only around aliens, but human and robot warriors too. Each player's goal is to utilize various warriors to knock out their counterparts on the opponent's team.
Computer Games
Alien computer games tend to be quite involved. First-person shooter "Alien Vs. Predator 2," for instance, is based on the movie series, and allows the player to control a human marine, an alien or a predator, each of which has its own interconnecting storyline and attack types. The game's plot involves an assault on a research station. Strategy title "Starcraft" finds players controlling an alien race, with the goal of building bases and an army, and eventually attacking rivals. Game modes include smaller skirmish and installation missions, in which the player is restricted only to a limited number of military units.
Consoles
Alien games have appeared in large numbers across various gaming consoles. Movie-based "Men in Black II: Alien Escape" doesn't follow the plot of the associated cinema release, but instead offers its own missions for agents Jay and Kay. Players utilize a range of wacky firearms to defeat fugitive aliens across a number of 3D environments. Super Nintendo Entertainment System game "Contra III: The Alien Wars" puts players in the shoes of a spacecraft pilot, whose task it is to blast through six levels filled with murderous aliens and shooting action. At the end of each stage, which have names such as the "Mucho Grande Badlands," players face a huge boss alien.
Board Games
Board games are typically multiplayer. "Aliens" is based on the 1986 movie and has three parts, each of which re-enacts scenes from the film, such as the air duct chase and the confrontation with the alien queen. The game comes with character cards and a photo-filled game map to represent the action. In "Cogno: The Alien Adventure Game," participants choose one of eight aliens, each with different powers, and attempt to survive the perils of the game board. The board itself features unusual zones such as a time tunnel and a black hole; players must answer science-related questions to proceed. Alien gear and time travel will help players succeed.
