Great Babysitting Games

Great babysitting games are designed to help keep the kids you are watching entertained and engaged. While some babysitting games can be played on the computer, most babysitting games take the form of board games or craft making. Assigning the kids you are babysitting a specific task will help keep them absorbed and well-behaved for the duration of your stay.
  1. "Hide and Seek"

    • This classic game utilizes the entire house you are babysitting in, allowing the kids to have fun while staying in a supervised environment. Start by choosing one player to be the seeker. From here, have this person stand in a corner with their eyes closed and count to 30. During this time, hide with the other kids in various parts of the house. The last player to be found is the winner of the hide and seek game.

    "Duck Duck Goose"

    • This popular babysitting game will help keep your kids active and entertained. Sit in a circle with the kids you are babysitting. Choose someone to stand up and walk around the circle. Have him lightly tap each kid on the head as he circles the group. If the kid says "duck" while tapping your head, you must stay seated. If the player tags you and says "goose", you must get up and run around the circle as fast as you can. If you reach your seat before the tapper you are safe. If you do not, you must sit in the center of the circle and become the tapper.

    "Scrabble"

    • This board game can be played with older children who have a basic mastery over the English language. Start by giving each player a set of tiles. From here, form words with the tiles and place them down on the board. Connect words and use obscure letters to increase your score. Another way to increase your score is by placing letters down on double and triple letter scores. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.

    Card Games

    • Card games are one way to keep kids entertained while babysitting. While basic games like poker and old maid can be played with the kids, you can also play games that test the kids' memory and matching abilities. Start by placing 10 cards face down on a table. Make sure that each card has a matching partner that is also facing down. Have the kids pick up one card at a time and place it back down. If they see two cards that are of the same value, have them turn them over and put them to the side.
