Easy Cooking Games

With the rise of celebrity chefs and competitive food shows, cooking has entered the world of entertainment. It's not just about preparing meals anymore. Fortunately, you don't have to be a skilled culinary artist to play along. Some video cooking games are easy to learn and even a novice can become a virtual kitchen superstar.
  1. Games for Download

    • PC users can download "Stand O' Food," a game where players cook and assemble sandwiches, while making sure their supplies don't run out. Over 100 levels accommodate beginners as well as more experienced chefs. Available for both Mac and PC users, "Cake Mania" has players help a young chef save her family's dying bakery by making and decorating customized cakes. "Chocolatier" players travel the globe in search of exclusive ingredients and competitive prices to create their own decadent desserts.

    Online Games

    • Geared for younger children, "Pizza Squared!" lets players exercise creativity by picking out toppings for their own custom pie. Similarly, "Cake Decoration Contest" asks young kids to bake, frost and decorate the best cake they can. The contest can be played against the computer or against peers. "Burger Rush" has competitors join an aspiring chef in her quest to turn hamburgers into fine cuisine. "Cooking Academy" casts players as students in a culinary school. Beginners can learn new recipes while practicing basic cooking skills such as chopping, flipping and frying.

    Video Games

    • Players of "Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends" use the stylus on the Nintendo DS to follow game directions for multiple recipes. It's possible to win gold medals for making everything the right way within a time limit. "Dora the Explorer: Dora's Cooking Club" for younger children contains more than 30 different mini-games. Kids get to cook and assemble their favorite dishes while practicing counting skills and learning measurements. "Gourmet Chef: Cook Your Way to Fame" has players earn the rank of master chef by cooking dishes to please various customers. One of them is a cranky critic in disguise.

    Board Games

    • "Eat It" is a trivia game where every question revolves around the various details of snacks and sweets. For example, a player may have to guess the number of stripes on a Fudge Stripe cookie and the favorite ice cream topping of Americans. "What's Cookin'?" asks players to answer questions about everything from wacky kitchen utensils to chocolate desserts. "Foodie Fight" has competitors answer trivia questions on topics such as celebrity chefs, food history and exotic cuisine. Its levels can be changed to accommodate a novice or an expert.
