Skee-Ball
There are many variations on the classic arcade game Skee-Ball. Its original form was first seen in 1909 and was one of the first redemption games ever produced. Some models have one lane or can be numerous lanes side by side. Skee-Ball features game play in the style of bowling. A ball rolls up an incline lane towards one of five or six hole surrounded by a ring. The holes are in a vertical row with each one having a numerical value. Numbers range from 10 to 50 on five-hole models, while holes on six-hole models run from 10 to 100 points. Tickets come out when the game ends. Your score will usually be the exact amount of tickets received.
Whac-a-Mole
Developed in the 1970's, Whac-a-Mole is a game for all ages. The design is a square cabinet with five holes on top. In each of the five holes is a plastic mole that moves up and down during the game. Some games will feature other design such as ghosts, sharks, or wolves. You obtain points every time you hit the mole. You get no points for slow hits or soft hits. In group play, several machines are next to each other with the goal being to obtain the most points of players competing simultaneously.
Basketball Games
Basketball games involve shooting basketballs at a hoop in the back of the machine. The machine is built to hold the basketballs inside the with netting. The game works on a time limit. The machine constantly feeds basketballs to you throughout the allotted time. Certain games come with a feature that moves the goal during game play as the skill level rises. Machines linked together also allow for group play. Machines may use basketballs smaller than regulation size.
Shooting Games
There are many shooting games on the market that offer tickets to you. Some models feature water guns or air guns. You use whatever type of gun that accompanies the game to hit targets. With water guns, the aim is usually to fill an item such as a balloon before other players. Air guns can knock down targets with various themes, for example, knocking down planks on a pirate ship. Group play offers tickets only to the game's winner, while single player games award tickets by points earned.
