Watch Out for That Tree
Let one girl play as George and one girl plays as his girlfriend, Ursula, in this game. Ask George to stand at one end of the room and Ursula to stand at the opposite end. Place a blindfold on George. Have the rest of the girls stagger themselves between the two and stand still, as trees in the jungle. To play, Ursula gives directions to George so he can navigate around the trees to reach her. If George runs into a tree, the girl playing him is out.
Snakes in the Jungle
Buy a sack or two of plastic snakes at the dollar store. Hide the snakes around a room. Turn off the lights and give the girls flashlights to search for the snakes and a paper sack to put them in. Play a CD of jungle noises as the girls go on the snake hunt. The girl who finds the most snakes wins the game.
Guess the Jungle Animal
Write the names of jungle animals on index cards. Tape a card to each girl's back. Let the girls go around the room and ask "yes or no" questions of the others about the animal taped to her back. When all the girls have figured out which animal they are, remove the cards from their shirts and toss them into a basket to use for a game of jungle-animal charades.
George Says
Instead of Simon Says, play the familiar game as George Says. Give jungle-themed commands. Say, "George says, pretend to swing on a vine" or "George says, make believe you are eating a banana." Other commands could include walking like George's girlfriend Ursula or doing a crazy jungle dance.
