Standard Game Rules
Standard games must contain two teams of between four and eight players each. Teams stand on opposite sides of a table. Each player must fill his cup up with some beer. No official amount requirement exists; however, everybody should fill his cup to the same level. Generally, the first ridge line of a plastic cup should represent the guideline.
Next, you must designate at which end of the table the game will begin. Start the game by lifting your cup, touching your cup to the cup of your opponent and then touching your cup to the surface of the table. Afterwards, drink the beer in your cup and place your cup upright on the edge of the table. Try to flip your cup to make it land face down on the table. Keep retrieving your cup and repeating the steps until you successfully land your cup face down. You only have to drink beer preceding the initial flip. Once you land your cup face down, the next player on your team repeats the same steps. The first team to flip all of their cups over will win the game.
The team that wins will win as many matches as necessary--if teams have four players, then four wins will end the game, for example. A team must win by two matches to win the game.
Survivor Rules
A game of Survivor flip cup involves the same rules as a standard match, with one exception. After each match, the losing team must vote off one of their players. In the following match, that team must designate a player to drink two cups instead of one. Thus, if a team has lost four players from an original five, the last remaining player must drink and flip five cups to beat the opposing team. The game ends when a team has no remaining players.
Cheating
A player cheats when she uses two hands to flip or guide the cup. The non-flipping hand can only be used to balance the cup on the edge of the table. Additionally, you may use two hands to either place the cup on the table’s edge or to reposition the cup after an unsuccessful flip. After you flip the cup, you may not touch it with either hand until it has stopped bouncing. If you cheat, the opposing team wins that round.
