Things You'll Need
Instructions
Fill all screw holes and imperfections in the cornhole boards with wood putty. Do not be afraid to overfill; sanding will make and filled-in holes flush with the cornhole board.
Sand the entire board with medium-grit sandpaper. An electric sander can make the job faster. Be sure to blend in all puttied holes. Switch to a finer grit sandpaper to sand the board to a smooth finish for painting. Remove all grit and dust with a tack cloth.
Paint the board with a layer of primer, using a brush or roller, and let it dry completely.
Mask off any areas of the cornhole board not being painted with blue painter’s tape. Work from lightest to darkest paint, Paint the first layer with outdoor-rated high-gloss paint. Let it dry completely, then paint again. Allow the board to dry between coats of paint and continue to mask and paint until you've achieved your desired look.
Apply one thin coat of polyurethane. Let dry completely. Repeat with a second coat.
Apply decals (if desired) by following the manufacturer’s directions.
