Big Brothers Big Sisters
You don't have to be a perfect person to volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS); the organization just wants individuals who can casually hang out with a child and bring fun into their lives. On top of doing a good thing by volunteering with BBBS, you get to have fun, inspire a young person just by being around and at the same time gain volunteer credits for college. You and your "little" brother or sister might also get discounts and, depending on your state, free memberships at places like the YMCA.
BBBS will usually run a background and fingerprint check, and have strict guidelines to protect the safety of the children looking for a big brother or sister through the program.
BBQ Fundraiser
Another fun activity that helps others at the same time is throwing a BBQ fundraiser. If you're part of a campus organization that could use some financial help, think about charging a small fee for other students from your campus, or surrounding campuses, to enjoy burgers and hot dogs for a good cause.
You might ask a friend who has a pool if you could use their house, get a DJ or amplified radio, and have other side items like chips and freeze pops to make the gathering even more fun.
Make Your Own Game Night
Instead of playing all the ordinary games like Scrabble or Monopoly, get a group of people together and brainstorm your very own game ideas. After you come up with your own games, you could break into teams and play against each other. The winners can buy pizzas for the next time you meet.
