Disney Princess Birthday Games

Disney Princess-themed birthday gatherings give kids a chance to revel in their favorite princesses, whether golden oldies like Snow White and Cinderella or more recent heroines like Tatiana from "The Princess and the Frog." Both girls and boys can gather together and play birthday games depicting princess/prince situations.
  1. Cinderella Slipper Games

    • Kids try finding the matching shoe for "Cinders Slippers." After putting one of their shoes in a shoe pile, kids grab a shoe (not their own) from the pile and try finding the owner of the shoe. The last kid to receive a matching shoe, a la Cinderella, receives a prize. In an alternate slipper game, kids search for Cinderella's "lost slipper" after an adult hides all their shoes and places a slipper in one kid's shoe. The kid who finds the slipper wins.

    Freeze Games

    • With Disney Princess songs playing, kids dance until an evil Disney stepmother arrives to freeze everyone in "Royal Ball Freeze Dance." When the evil stepmother (an adult) stops the music, kids freeze in place; if kids do not freeze, they exit the game. Kids resume dancing when the music starts again. The last kid remaining wins.

For "Wicked Queen/King Freeze Tag," one kid plays the king/queen, while other kids play princesses and princes. The queen chases the others; if she catches players, they stay frozen in position until another kid touches them. When the queen/king freezes everyone or an adult says to stop, the game ends. The first kid the queen tagged becomes the queen/king for the next game.

    "Kiss the Frog"

    • A blindfolded "princess" seeks a frog to "kiss" in this game. An adult selects one kid to play the "princess," with the remaining kids picking papers out of a bag; one paper has "frog" written on it, while all others have "animal." Holding a Hershey's Kiss, the "princess" says, "With this kiss, the frog becomes a prince." At that time, the kids, standing in a circle around the "princess," make animal noises, with only the "frog" "ribbiting." Using the "ribbits" as a guide, the blindfolded "princess" walks toward the "frog." When she finds the supposed "frog," she gives him the Kiss. If the "princess" chooses correctly, the "frog" keeps the Kiss, but sits out the next round while the player to his right becomes the princess. If the "princess" chooses incorrectly, the "frog" returns the Kiss to her. The "princess" then sits out the next round, and the "frog" becomes the "princess."

    "Royal Dress-Up Relay"

    • The host pits "princes" against "princesses"--or co-ed team against co-ed team--for a dress-up relay. The adult determines a starting line and a turn-back line, with each team getting a bag or suitcase of "royal" clothes that fit princes and princesses. Players open the suitcase, put on the clothes, shut the suitcase and run with it to the turn-back line. They then remove the clothes, put them back in the suitcase and run the suitcase back to the start line, where the next players repeat the process. The first team to finish wins.

    "Snow White's Poisoned Apple"

    • An adult hides numerous apples around the party space, with one "poisonous" apple having a green ribbon around the stem. The adult tells kids that Snow White needs them to pick out the poisonous apple before she starts picking apples. The kid who finds the "poison" apple wins.

    "Who Am I?"

    • Kids try guessing their Disney Princess identity after an adult tapes to their backs index cards featuring a princess sticker. One at a time, kids ask other kids yes/no questions, with the kid guessing her identity with the least amount of questions winning.
