How to Create Your Own Match Game

Matching games are a fun activity. The games challenge your mind and help keep your memory sharp. According to a University of Michigan article titled, "Does Playing The Brain-Memory Game Really Help?," games that help improve your memory are designed to lower your brain's "age" with repeated playing.

Making your own simple matching game is easy to do. You can make matching games that correspond with every season or subject. The possibilities are endless. You can also incorporate many different learning concepts if there is a specific topic you are studying. The level of difficulty will increase as you make the game more complex.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a collection of stickers that intrigue you or are colorful and diverse. You will want a diverse selection so you can have at least five pairs that are identical. The color variations help visual recognition. Place one sticker on one side of each index card.

    • 2

Buy more stickers and add more pairs to your deck of cards so there are 10 pairs of stickers to match. Then increase your deck of cards to 15 pairs. The more pairs you have, the higher your level of difficulty.

    • 3

Increase the difficulty of your matching game evern more by using pictures or objects that are associated together to make a pair. This could be a picture of each state with the state's capital written on its corresponding card. It could be an adult animal with its corresponding card being its baby. The pair possibilities are endless.
