Things You'll Need
Instructions
Figure out what math or card game you want to learn. Depending on who you're with and what your experience is, there are any number of games to choose from. The best way to learn a new game is to play with someone who already knows how to play, so choosing a game that someone you're with already knows will make the learning curve less steep.
Assemble everything you need to play the game. This might be just a deck of cards, but some games require other elements such as dice, paper, writing utensils and betting chips.
Play the math or card game non-competitively at first. When learning a new game it is important to feel at ease giving all your attention to learning the rules. If you are worried about winning or losing it will be harder to focus on the rules and strategy of the game.
Play the game several times. Sometimes you learn a new game only to forget it the next day. So, it's important to play the game until you feel confident that you will remember the rules. Play again within a week of playing your first time. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to remember how to play.
Play math or card games online if you don't have anyone else to play with. The number of people who play games online is astounding. From solitaire to complex war games, the online gaming industry is a behemoth. Playing games online can be just as fun, competitive and social as playing them offline.
