Goal: Be the first player to identify a "Set" of three cards from the layout.
Cards: A deck of 81 cards, each featuring a combination of four features:
* Number: One, two, or three
* Shape: Diamond, squiggle, or oval
* Color: Red, green, or purple
* Shading: Solid, striped, or open
Gameplay:
1. Deal: Twelve cards are laid out face-up in a 3x4 grid.
2. Find a Set: A "Set" consists of three cards where each feature (number, shape, color, shading) is either:
* All the same (e.g., all three cards have two shapes)
* All different (e.g., one card has one shape, one has two, and one has three)
3. Call "Set!": If you find a Set, call out "Set!" and point to the three cards.
4. Verify: Other players can challenge your Set. If you are incorrect, you lose a turn.
5. Replace Cards: The three cards in the Set are replaced with three new cards from the deck.
6. Continue: Keep playing until all cards are dealt or there are no more Sets on the board.
7. Scoring: Each Set found earns a point. The player with the most points wins.
Variations:
* Timer: A timer can be used to make the game faster and more challenging.
* Penalty Points: A penalty point can be given for incorrect Set calls.
* Team Play: Players can be divided into teams, with each team competing to find Sets.
Tips:
* Focus on one feature at a time: Look for sets of cards where one feature is the same, and then see if the other features are also all the same or all different.
* Look for patterns: Notice any repeated patterns or combinations on the cards.
* Don't be afraid to ask for clarification: If you're not sure if a group of cards is a Set, ask another player for confirmation.
Enjoy playing Set!
