Level Select and Sound Test

• Access the game's Debug Mode by hanging onto one of the many ropes in the Angel Island Zone and pressing the following button combination: "Left," "Left," "Left," "Right," "Right," "Right," "Up," "Up" and "Up," which will cause a chime to sound. After the chime, press "Start" followed by "A" to go back to the title screen. Select "Sound Test" to access a menu where you can hear various songs and sound effects from the game and to transport to any level of your choice.

Debug Mode

• After unlocking the Level Select, transport to the Mushroom Hill Zone and hang onto one of the pulleys scattered about the level. Enter the same button combination that you used to get the Level Select cheat: "Left," "Left," "Left," "Right," "Right," "Right," "Up," "Up" and "Up." Press "Start" and then "A" to return to the title screen once again. Select a zone in the Level Select mode and hold "A" until its name disappears. Once you're in the level, press B to access Debug Mode.

Debug Mode Controls

• Press "B" to enter Debug Mode. While in this mode, the controls change:

  "A" button: change the items you can place in the game
  "B" button: toggle Debug Mode on and off
  "C" button: place items in the level

  When Debug Mode is off, the controls change as follows:

  "A" button: reverse the game's gravity
  "B" button: toggle Debug Mode on and off
  "C" button: jump

Get Hyper Sonic, Super Tails and Hyper Knuckles

• While in Debug Mode, press "A" until you have an image of an item box with an "S" on it. Press "C" to place it on the screen and turn off Debug Mode. Jump on the item box to gain 50 rings and transform into the super-powered version of whatever character you're playing as: Sonic, Tails or Knuckles

Play at Night

• Activate Level Select in your game. Then hold the "C" button and press "Start" to change the level into a nighttime setting.
