How to Run From Battles in Tales of Phantasia

Tales of Phantasia is a Japanese role-playing game originally released for the Super Famicom (the Japanese name for what is known in the West as Super Nintendo) gaming system in 1995. The game was re-released several times on various other consoles. The only official North American release was on the Game Boy Advance in 2006. The battle system in the game allows the player to move the character by using the D-pad on the Super Nintendo controller. Battles can be won by defeating the enemies on screen. However, if need be, players can also direct the character to run from battle.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter a battle in the game by wandering the world map, the large open area that the character traverses between towns and dungeons, or by wandering a dungeon area. Battles are entered randomly. The screen will change from a top-down view to a side view with enemies present and player stats at the bottom of the screen.

    • 2

Use the left and right directional buttons on the Super Nintendo or Game Boy Advance D-pad to move the character to either the left or right side of the screen, depending on where he is positioned at the start of the battle.

    • 3

Hold the left shoulder button or the right shoulder button on the top of the game controller, depending on the side of the screen the character is on, to escape from the battle.
