How to Get Across the Haunted Wasteland on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

In "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," young hero Link must save Princess Zelda from her kidnapper, Ganondorf, to help bring peace to the Hyrule Kingdom. Late in the game, you must traverse the Haunted Wasteland past the Gerudo Training Grounds to get to the Desert Colossus. Making your way through this desert section will require the use of some items you will have previously received, along with some techniques you will have learned during the quest.

  Head north at the Gerudo Training Grounds to reach a gate blocking the path to the desert. Climb the ladder and speak to the Gerudo, who will eventually let you pass.

  Go straight and get on top of a crate in the sand. Use the Longshot to grapple a crate on the other sides of the River of Sand to pull yourself across.

  Look for flags, which are hard to see in the blowing sand. Follow these flag markers through the desert to reach a shrine.

  Head inside the shrine to get a Gold Skulltula. Light the two torches; a chest containing a purple rupee will appear.

  Go back outside and crawl to the top of the shrine. Use the Lens of Truth to spot a ghost, Poe, who will guide you through the remaining part of the wasteland. Follow Poe to the Desert Colossus.

  Bomb the cracked wall between the two palm trees on the right. Summon the fairy with your ocarina; she will present you Nayru's Love, which makes you temporarily invincible when you use it.
