How to Connect Nintendos to TVs

All Nintendo consoles come with cables for connecting the system to the user's TV. The original NES and SNES shipped with RF cables, while the N64, GameCube and Wii shipped with composite video cables. Users can purchase RF cables for all of the consoles except the Wii. The GameCube and Wii also offer component video cables for better picture clarity on games capable of progressive scan.

Instructions

  Connect systems with RF connectors using the coaxial cable input. Screw the coaxial cable to the input port on the audio/video connector, and screw the output cable from the connector to the back of the TV. Systems with RF connectors include the NES, Super NES, N64 and GameCube.

  Plug systems with composite cables into the composite input connections on the back or side of the TV. The cables are color-coded yellow for video, and red and white for sound. Plug the cables into the jacks with the same color. Nintendo systems with composite cables include the SNES, N64, GameCube and Wii.

  Plug systems with component cable connections into the component video ports on the back or side of the TV. Component video cables are coded red, green and blue for video, and red and white for sound. The GameCube and Wii have optional component video connectors.
