Games for the Nester Emulator

Nester is an emulator of the Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. It runs on the Windows operating system and claims to be able to run almost every NES game ever released. This is particularly desirable to gamers because original NES game cartridges and functional NES consoles are hard to come by. You can download .ROM files of NES games, which Nester then emulates so that you can play the games using either a computer keyboard or a USB game controller.
  1. "The Legend of Zelda"

    • This first game in the long-running "Legend of Zelda" video game franchise was released in 1986 and continues to be heralded as one of the greatest games of all time. You control Link as he overcomes dungeons and puzzles to defeat Ganon and save Princess Zelda. This was the first NES game to sell more than one million copies, and it pioneered the action-adventure genre. It is an essential game to return to with using the Nester emulator.

    "Super Mario Bros."

    • "Super Mario Bros." has had a huge impact on the platform genre. The staff of IGN notes that "it's hard to imagine a video game industry today without 'Super Mario Bros.'" You play as Mario as he travels across various lands in a quest to save Princess Peach from Bowser. The level design was revolutionary, the music is infectious and, best of all, the gameplay is still huge amounts of fun.

    "Metroid"

    • Pioneering science fiction adventure game "Metroid" has excellent level design, music and gameplay. You control bounty hunter Samus Aran as she explores the planet Zebes in an attempt to defeat the Metroids, the jellyfish-like creatures who absorb energy. The huge, complex levels mean that you can navigate through the game in a variety of ways, and a few different endings give the game a surprisingly long life.

    Mega Man 2

    • "Mega Man 2" built upon the side-scrolling foundation of "Super Mario Bros." and added a character that possessed an arm canon. You control Mega Man as he chases after the evil Dr. Wily, defeating his crushing robots on your way. Although the game is short, two difficulty settings extend the life of the game. "Mega Man 2" offers fun graphics, soundtrack and gameplay.
