Transform the "Hammer Bros."

• To turn the wandering "Hammer Bros." on the map into treasure ships, finish any level in Worlds 1, 3, 5 or 6 with 11 coins. The tens digit in your score must be one, and you must finish the level with an even time. For example, finishing the second level of World 3 in 2:22 with 11 coins and a score of 123,110 would transform the "Hammer Bros." into a treasure ship.

Quick Warp to World 8

• When you have two whistles in your possession, you can automatically warp to World 8. If you want to beat the game quickly, the first two whistles in the game are in the first few levels of World 1. To find the first whistle, go to Level 3. After you leave the coin bonus, run left to find some blocks--one of them will be white. Jump on the white one and duck down to drop behind the level's scenery. Run to your right until you reach the goal; this will put you inside Toad's secret house, which contains the first warp whistle. For the second whistle, go inside the fortress. Hit the "?" block to get a Tanooki (raccoon) suit. Jump on top of the "dry bones" enemy and fly up and off the screen. Fly above the lava pits and continue to your right. When you cannot fly right anymore, press "Up" to obtain the second warp whistle.

Unlimited 1-Ups

• In World 3, Level 9, get the shell from the first "koopa paratroopa" and make your way to the right. Jump over the first cannon and keep running to the right. Jump on top of the second cannon. Kick the koopa shell to the right and quickly jump on the ledge above you. The shell will then bounce between the second and third cannons, which will destroy their bullets. Every ninth bullet the shell destroys will give you a 1-up until you leave the level.
