The Sims 2
Since The Sims games already have a place in history as one of the most popular PC games for girls as well as guys, The Sims 2 is a natural starting point for a girl new to the Xbox. As in the PC version, you̵7;ll control just about every aspect of your Sim and her family̵7;s life. Death and aging have been removed from the Xbox version, but you̵7;ll still have the ability to use an in-depth character creation tool to design your Sims̵7; appearance, clothing and personality. Unlike the PC version, you̵7;ll be able to play in story mode, where you̵7;ll progress through a story-like interface and use points to visit new places and meet new Sims. You can also choose freeplay, which is more akin to the game play found in the PC version̵2;albeit without death, aging or pregnancy.
Beyond Good and Evil
Beyond Good and Evil puts you in the role of Jade, a freelance photographer in her 20s. An evil alien race threatens her home and a military force known as the Alpha Section provides defense. Throughout the game you̵7;ll investigate Alpha Section̵7;s unscrupulous motives and uncover several plot twists. While it plays as a third person action adventure game with plenty of combat, it could appeal to newbie girl gamers with its realistic female protagonist, easy to pick up control system and heavy emphasis on exploration, stealth and puzzles. Much of the game requires you to sneak past guards rather than engage them in combat, and you̵7;ll often use Jade̵7;s camera to photograph evidence and solve puzzles.
Guitar Hero (Series)
Games in the Guitar Hero party game series hold mass appeal for both genders. Using a plastic guitar, drumkit or microphone, you jam out to various hit songs from the '60s all the way up to current times. Guitar Hero games let you choose from a wide range of difficulty levels and provide helpful tutorials so girls new to gaming won̵7;t be daunted. It basically boils down to tapping buttons (or drum pads) in sync with the corresponding tablature on the screen. Character creation mode lets you design your own rocker, male or female, complete with a wide range of outfits, instruments and accessories. You won't be limited in your song selection, either, with hundreds of songs from dozens of artists spread across the various titles on both Xbox consoles.
