How to Get Through the Locked Door in Mossdeep City on Pokemon Ruby

The locked door behind the old man's house in Mossdeep City is one of the greatest mysteries in "Pokemon Ruby." Behind it lies a powerful Pokemon trainer whom you can defeat to earn a massive amount of experience points -- enough, in most cases, to make your current Pokemon reach its next evolutionary form. Getting past the door won't force you to seek out rare, magical items or special keys; instead, you will just have to use a few extra pieces of Game Boy Advance hardware to unlock it.

Things You'll Need

Two Game Boy Advance systems
"Pokemon Ruby" cartridge
Link cable
E-Reader
Special edition "Ruby" E-Reader card

Instructions

- 1
  Insert your "Pokemon Ruby" cartridge into one of the Game Boy Advance systems. Place the E-Reader in the other system.

  Connect your two Game Boy Advance systems with a link cable, and power on both of them.

  Swipe the special edition "Pokemon Ruby" E-Reader card, which comes packaged with the game, through the E-Reader device. This unlocks the door.

  Ride your bicycle or fly to Mossdeep City on the Game Boy Advance system running "Pokemon Ruby."
- 5
  Walk to the old man's house and approach the door. Press "A" to walk through the door, which will now be unlocked.
