How to Get Rid of the Tree in Pokemon Silver

In the Nintendo Game Boy game "Pokemon Silver," Route 36 in the Johto region is home to Sudowoodo, a tree-shaped Pokemon which blocks the road and refuses to move. Despite looking like a tree, Sudowoodo is in fact a Rock-type Pokemon. To get past it, you must provoke it into attacking you using an item called the Squirtbottle. This is the only wild Sudowoodo Pokemon in the game, so it is useful to capture it for your Pokedex.

Instructions

  Go to Goldenrod City in the west of the Johto region and defeat the Pokemon Gym Leader, Whitney. She has a Level 18 Clefairy and a Level 20 Miltank, both of which you can beat using Fighting-type Pokemon.

  Go into the house to the west of the Gym and speak to the lady inside to get a Squirtbottle item.

  Head north out of town on Route 35 and continue past the National Park until the road turns east onto Route 36. Continue along Route 36 until you meet the Sudowoodo blocking the road.

  Open your items bag while facing the Sudowoodo, select the Squirtbottle and press "Use" to make the Sudowoodo attack you. It is a Level 20 Rock-type Pokemon.

  Use Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water or Grass-type attacks to wear down Sudowoodo's health points until they are showing as a red bar, and throw a Pokeball to catch it.
