How to Catch a Chansey in Gold

The rare Pokemon Chansey became even more valuable in Pokemon Gold, which gave it a new evolution, Blissey, with the most hit points and the fifth-highest special defense value in the game. In addition, you can trade one for an Aerodactyl on Route 14. However, it remains as difficult to catch as ever, and are only found in the Kanto region after beating the Elite Four. Though unlike previous generations, they are not restricted to the hair-tearingly frustrating Safari Zone, you'll still need patience and luck to score one.

     Fly to Route 12, 13 or 14. These routes are found connecting Lavender Town and Fuchsia City.

     Search the tall grass until you find a Chansey. Perseverance will be required as they have a rate of appearance of approximately 1 percent.

   • 3

     Weaken the Chansey by attacking it, and capture it in an Ultra Ball -- or use a Friend Ball to get it closer to evolution.
