How to Get Wailmer on Pokemon Emerald

In "Pokemon Emerald," Wailmer's bulky size protects him from physical blows, and his Water Veil ability shields him from burns. Wailmer is a water-type Pokemon, so he naturally lives only in rivers, ponds and the ocean. Wailer is also very common, found in almost any body of water. But to catch him, you must obtain the Super Rod -- the strongest fishing rod available. You get one when you talk with the fisherman in Mossdeep City.

Instructions

- 1
  Head to Mossdeep City, located northeast of Sootopolis City and northwest of Ever Grande City. Mossdeep City is an island, so you must swim to it, if this is your first trip there. If you have been there before and have a Pokemon that knows Fly, bring up the map and select Mossdeep City to fly there.

  Go to the house on the east side of Mossdeep City. Talk to the fisherman to receive the Super Rod.

  Go to any body of water in the game. Route 103 is an isolated patch of water where Wailmer lives. He is also found in the water between Routes 105 and 134. Wailmer are found in the water in cities like Mossdeep City, Lilycove City and Pacidlog Town.

  Face the water, and press "A" to fish. At random, you may catch Wailmer, but there is also a chance you will catch a different kind of Pokemon. If you do not get Wailmer, defeat the caught Pokemon and fish again.

  Attack Wailmer a few times to get his health down. Throw the desired Poke Ball at Wailmer to capture him.
