How to Fill the Pokedex in Pokemon Platinum

Filling the Pokedex in "Pokemon Platinum" is one of the important objectives of the game, and shows your skill and experience as a Pokemon trainer. This can be a challenging experience since there are 210 Pokemon you need to see in "Platinum," opposed to the 150 that are in the "Diamond" and "Pearl" versions. However, it is not necessary to catch each Pokemon to enter them in your Pokedex, you only have to meet the Pokemon.

Instructions

  Fight every trainer you see along your journey. Facing a Pokemon will enter it into your Pokedex. Also, there are some Pokemon that you will only meet through battling other trainers.

  Walk through all the tall grass where there are Pokemon hiding waiting to battle you. Walk through all the caves to meet Pokemon that pop up suddenly. Surf around in large bodies of water to meet Pokemon that can only be found in water.

  Explore all the buildings and locations because there are certain Pokemon that can be found only at a specific location. Also try revisiting locations at different times of the day because "Pokemon Platinum" keeps track of the time, and there are Pokemon that appear only during certain times, such as at night.

  Check a Pokemon guide if there are a couple of Pokemon that you are unable to find no matter how hard you look. There are a few that are difficult to meet unless you know exactly how to find them. A couple of useful guides are Serebii and Bulbapedia, which include the location and method for meeting each Pokemon.
