How to Get Chansey in Pokemon: Gold

Chansey is a Normal-type Pokemon introduced in "Pokemon Red," "Blue," and "Yellow." It is the evolved form of Happiny and the pre-evolution of Blissey. Members of the Chansey evolutionary line are known for their massive HP and Special Defense and frail Defense and Attack. In battle, players often use Chansey as a special wall or support Pokemon, with attacks such as Softboiled, Heal Bell, Seismic Toss and Thunder Wave. In the "Gold," "Silver," and "Crystal" games, you can find Chansey only on Route 14.

     Fly to Fuchsia City. Exit through the east gatehouse, and continue east through Route 13.

     Head north onto Route 14. Hug the fence on the left edge, and continue north to reach a small patch of grass.

     Walk around in the grass until you encounter a Chansey. This may take several attempts, as Chansey's encounter rate is only 1 percent.

   • 4

     Lower Chansey's HP into the red zone, and inflict it with a status ailment such as Paralysis or Sleep. Throw Ultra Balls at Chansey until you catch it.
