How to Get the Fourth Badge on Pokemon Crystal

In the "Pokemon" universe, badges are symbols of a trainer's victory at a Pokemon Gym. Trainers earn badges by defeating Gym Leaders in a Pokemon battle. For example, defeating Misty at the Cerulean Gym earns the trainer the Cascade Badge. Badges typically grant the trainer additional benefits, such as the ability to use a Hidden Machine (HM) on the field. After obtaining eight badges, players are allowed to challenge the Elite Four. In "Pokemon Crystal," players obtain the fourth badge by defeating Morty in the Ecruteak City Gym.

Instructions

  Defeat your rival in the Burned Tower and heal your Pokemon at the Pokemon Center. Purchase several Super Potions from the Poke Mart.

  Battle wild Pokemon and trainers until your Pokemon are around levels 20 through 25 or higher. Teach your Pokemon Ground- and Psychic-type attacks, such as Dig and Confusion, respectively.

  Enter the Ecruteak City Gym and defeat the gym trainers while making your way through the dark maze. Heal your Pokemon before talking to Morty at the end of the maze.

  Engage Morty in battle. Defeat his Gastly and two Haunters with physical attacks that aren't Normal- or Fighting-type. Use effective attacks such as Dig and Confusion to defeat his Gengar and earn the fourth badge, the Fog Badge.
