How to Kill the Boss in Bottle Grove in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Located in the Northwest of the world map, Bottle Grove possesses a small cave that leads to the boss of dungeon 2. This boss may be difficult to beat for some players because it not only requires certain items as prerequisites for killing it but it also transforms into a second form after you destroy its first. However, with timed dodging and understanding the method to deal damage to both forms of the boss, you can succeed in defeating it.

Instructions

  Confirm you have the required objects for defeating the boss. The bare minimum you should bring into Bottle Grove's dungeon is the level 1 sword and the power bracelet. In addition, consider obtaining the level 2 sword, some potions and Roc's Feather before entering this dungeon. Having the level 2 sword will make killing the boss's second form easier. Having potions will allow you to heal if your health gets too low. Having Roc's Feather will allow you to more easily dodge the boss's attacks.

  Encounter the boss. Enter Bottle Grove's dungeon (a cave located in the water slightly to the west of the grove). Reach the end of the dungeon and the boss will appear.

  Dodge the boss's fireballs. The boss will emerge from its bottle, shoot a total of eight fireballs, and then return to its bottle. Each time the boss launches a fireball, run (or jump if you have Roc's Feather) left or right, depending on which side has more space for you to run.

  Hit the boss with your sword while it is in the bottle. You can only successfully hit the boss after it returns to its bottle. This will allow you to pick up the bottle.

  Throw the bottle against the wall. Use the power bracelet to pick up the bottle after a successful hit. Use the power bracelet again while facing a wall to throw the bottle against the wall, damaging it.

  Repeat the dodging-hitting-throwing process two times.

  Dodge the fireballs launched by the second form of the boss. The second form of the boss will only launch one fireball at a time. Dodge by moving or jumping in any direction available.

  Hit the second form boss with your sword. The boss's two bodies will converge into one after it shoots a fireball. This is the time to hit the boss, as it is the only time the boss will receive damage.

  Repeat the dodging-hitting process. It will take 7 repetitions if you are using the level 1 sword and less if using the level 2 sword.
