How Do You Catch Raikou in Pokemon Silver?

Along with "Pokemon Gold" and "Crystal," "Pokemon Silver" introduced three legendary Pokemon named Raikou, Entei and Latias. Rather than remaining in one type of location the entire game, these Pokemon adventure throughout the Pokemon world. Each legendary Pokemon also quickly scurries away if you're hot on its path, adding to the difficulty of catching one. If you're trying to capture Raikou, you'll need to use your Pokedex and venture forth into the grass in hopes of encountering him.

Instructions

  Obtain HM02. You can fly from city to city with HM02. You can only obtain HM02 by defeating the Cianwood gym leader and then talking to his wife outside the gym. She will say a few words and hand you HM02.

  Fly to a city within the center of the map. Avoid flying to offshore locations or near the mountainous region, as Raikou will only appear in the grassy locations.

  Press "Start" and open your Pokedex. If Raikou is nearby, you will see his icon in the grass. Run to the location of the grass. As you pass through the grass, you will likely encounter several Pokemon. Since Raikou will leave soon after you arrive, buying and using a super repel item is your best strategy to avoid all Pokemon other than Raikou in the area.

  Open your Pokedex again if you have not encountered Raikou within one to two minutes. Fly to another city in the center of the map. Check your Pokedex again. Each time you fly, Raikou's location changes. It's essentially a game of hit and miss, so you may have to fly to several cities before you see Raikou's icon in the grass again.

  Throw your Master Ball at Raikou immediately when you finally do run into him. If you no longer have the Master Ball, attack once with Hypnosis or Sleep Powder. If you successfully attack with either of these abilities, Raikou will fall asleep. Continue to attack Raikou until his health is about 50 percent or lower, and use an Ultra Ball.
