Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place "Pokemon Gold" into the system and turn the game on. If the game does not turn on at all, turn the system off and then insert another game. Turn the system on. If other games work in the Game Boy Color system, the problem is with the "Pokemon Gold" cartridge. If other games also do not work in the system, replace the system batteries and attempt to turn the system on again.
Turn the game system on. If your "Pokemon Gold" game is not saving game data, it may be because you have turned the system off too quickly after selecting the "Save" option. Wait a few moments after you select "Save." The screen will change when you have successfully saved game data. Turn the system off.
Take Pokemon to a Pokemon Center and heal them if you encounter a flashing screen. This is designed to occur in the game when Pokemon are burned, poisoned or otherwise injured. If you encounter graphics-related problems, ensure that you have not captured "MissingNO." This is a programming glitch and not an actual Pokemon. Release MissingNO to restore original game settings. You may need to erase your game and start again if releasing MissingNO does not solve the problem.
Capture at least two Pokemon and visit a Pokemon Center. Speak to the woman at the desk to the right to access the Colosseum and trade center. You will be barred from doing this unless you use a link cable to connect with a friend's Game Boy Color, or if you have less than two Pokemon. Both players must speak to this woman at the same time. Do not trade between an American version of the game and a Japanese version of the game, or all game data on both games will be erased.
