How to Unlock the Gym Door in Sootopolis

The gym in Sootopolis on "Pokemon Emerald Version" on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance is tricky. You cannot simply walk into the building. The big Archie blocks the door and keeps it locked. It's not hard to get in with a little practice and attention to a set of steps.

Instructions

    • 1

      Walk to the Sootopolis Pokemon Center, which is the only building accessible in the city.

      Talk to Steven, who will lead you to the Cave of Origin. Down one floor is Wallace, the former Sootopolis gym leader. He will ask you where the mythical dragon Rayquaza lives. Tell him the dragon is at the Sky Pillar.

      Go to the Sky Pillar. Meet Wallace on the second floor. From there, you and Wallace will awake Rayquaza.

      Go back to the Sootopolis Gym. A cut scene of Rayquaza flying around will play. Since you helped Wallace to awake Rayquaza, Archie will unlock the door.
