Pokemon Fire Red Version Information

Pokemon Fire Red is in the third generation lineup of Pokemon games. Much like its predecessors, you control an aspiring Pokemon Trainer who travels the world capturing and training wild monsters called Pokemon. You then fight other trainers, gaining prestige and experience, until you battle with the Elite 4 to show the world that you are the Pokemon Master. Pokemon Fire Red was made for the Game Boy Advance system and was released in September of 2004.
  1. Game Remake

    • Pokemon Fire Red is a complete revamp and overhaul of the original Pokemon Red game from the generation one series back in 1996. Between the two games, the locations of cities and gym leaders remain the same, as well as the sound effects the Pokemon made back in Pokemon Red. Minor changes were made to in-game trades with NPCs, such as the inability to trade Nidorino for a Lickitung. The most substantial change is the existence of Shiny Pokemon and the Breeding system.

    Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Comparison

    • While Pokemon Fire Red has new features lifted from Pokemon Gold and Silver, the remake lacks the newer additions of contests and secret bases in the Ruby and Sapphire versions. In addition, there is an absence of Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire games in the Fire Red version. The only way to acquire those Pokemon for your roster is to trade them through those game versions.

    Comparison with Leaf Green

    • Leaf Green is the counterpart to Fire Red, containing virtually an identical game with the minor difference of exclusive Pokemon such as Nine Tails or Slowbro existing in one game or the other. In regards to similarities, there are now nine new islands never before seen in the original Pokemon Red and Green games. Seven of these islands can be accessed normally, but Rebirth Island and Naval Rock need special codes from Nintendo-sponsored events to unlock them.

    Deoxys

    • Deoxys is a psychic-type Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Fire Red. In order to capture this rare, legendary Pokemon you need to obtain an Aurora Ticket code from a Nintendo-sponsored event to gain Ferry Access in Vermilion City. Once captured, it can be traded to Leaf Green in order to transform it to Deoxys' other forms.

    Pokedex

    • The Pokedex has been redesigned to include comprehensive data missing from the original version of Pokemon Red. The features include standard and national mode, as well as an index function to categorize Pokemon information by stats such as type, size and category. The Pokedex can now view four Pokemon per page, as opposed to the original version where it was just one at a time.

    Elite 4 Redux

    • Winning the game can be accomplished by defeating the Elite 4, much like in the original game. However, there has been an addition of a second wave of Elite 4 for players who want an extra challenge. With this second group, each person holds different Pokemon of varying levels ranging between 50 and 75. They are incredibly strong, and are far superior than their Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal game counterparts.
