Unlockable Characters
"Sonic Advance 2" allows you to play with different characters from the popular series, but to do so, you must unlock each one after completing various steps. These steps can include having you beat certain stages or the entire game under certain conditions. Unlocking these characters can open up new play styles and help you find secret areas within each stage.
Tails is unlocked once you complete the Music Plant stage. Completing the Sky Canyon stage with Sonic will unlock Knuckles. Cream becomes available once you complete the Leaf Forest stage with Sonic. To unlock Amy, complete the game with Sonic, Cream, Tails and Knuckles while collecting all the chaos emeralds.
Additional Unlockables
Other special nuggets are available for unlocking while playing through "Sonic Advance 2." To unlock the Sound Test mode, where you can listen to all the music from the game, you must complete the game with two characters and find all seven emeralds each time. Songs 58 through 63 will become available once you complete the Extra Zone with Sonic.
Time Attack mode lets you challenge all the game's bosses, with a set amount of time to defeat each. To receive this play mode, complete the game with three characters and find all of the chaos emeralds during each playthrough.
Tiny Chao Garden and True Area 53 are two special stages that you can unlock for play. Tiny Chao Garden is available once you complete the game with one character and find all the chaos emeralds. True Area 53 is more difficult, as you must first beat the game with Sonic, find the seven emeralds, then complete the game with Amy, Tails, Knuckles and Cream.
