• Powersliding enables your car to handle tough corners and curves. Some cars are better for powersliding than others. To powerslide, use "S" if playing on a PC, the left trigger on a GameCube controller, the "R1" button for PlayStation 2 and the right trigger for Xbox and Xbox 360.

  A tilt maneuver gives you the ability to make near-90-degree turns. Use tilt for turns that will be too hard for powersliding. For the PC version, use the left "shift" key to tilt. For GameCube, use the "Y" button, the "L1" button on PS2 and the left bumper on Xbox. Be careful not to overuse tilt, as it will slow you down significantly, though not nearly as much as hitting a wall.

  Shortcuts should be used often throughout races. They will give you bonus points as well as an advantage over other racers. Explore each chapter in order to gain more bonus points. Try to collect all the bonus points in each level.

  Boost tanks increase your car's speed and acceleration. There are three challenges in the game that award one boost tank each: "Boostin' with Filmore," "Rustbucket Race-O-Rama" and "Delinquent Road Hazards."

Cheats

• To enter a cheat code, choose Options in the main menu before entering Story mode. Then enter the code using your controller or keyboard, depending on which platform you are playing.

  The code "MATTL66" will unlock all the races. To unlock all the available cars, use the code "YAYCARS." Entering "IF900HP" as a code will unlock all tracks and mini-games.

  For a superfast start, try the code "IMSPEED." For unlimited boost,
  enter "VROOOOM" as a code.

  The code "R4MONE" gives you all the paint jobs, "WATCHIT" unlocks all the movies, and "CONC3PT" accesses all the concept art.

  A Chopper bonus mini-game can be unlocked by entering the code
  "TRGTEXC."

Modes of play

• Story mode lets you unlock races and mini-games and freely explore and roam the game. This mode features 33 different events spread out over five chapters with two adjacent world areas.

  Arcade mode allows you to choose any of your unlocked characters and use them in any unlocked race or mini-game.

  Vs. mode is for one-on-one racing. You and another player can pick an unlocked character and race against each other in any unlocked event.
