How to Do the GameCube Secret Opening

Occasionally, programmers add in small bits of code to surprise or reward users. These little surprises are known as Easter eggs. The makers of the Nintendo GameCube created an Easter egg in the form of an alternate opening video. If you turn on the system while holding a specific button on a connected controller, you can enjoy this secret opening video.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn on your television and select the input that you have your GameCube connected to.

      Connect your GameCube controller to the first port on the front of the system.

      Hold down the "Z" button on the controller. This is the purple button on the top right corner of the controller.

    • 4

      Press the power button on your GameCube to turn on the system. Continue holding the "Z" button until the opening video begins. You'll notice it is not the typical opening video.
