What Happens if I Get Fingerprints on the Bronze Statue in Pokemon Diamond?

There are many locations you can visit in "Pokemon Diamond," including the Pokemon Mansion. For many players, this mansion is of interest due to the Trophy Garden in the back of it. Also residing inside the Pokemon Mansion is a bronze statue being watched over by a guard -- any attempt to touch the statue is thwarted by the guard.
  1. Pokemon Mansion Location

    • The Pokemon Mansion is not located in a town, like the majority of residences in "Pokemon Diamond." Instead, the Pokemon Mansion is found on Route 212. To access the Pokemon Mansion, travel to Hearthome City, located west of Solaceon Town and east of Oreburgh City. Leave Hearthome City using the southern exit and follow the large grey wall as it wraps around the mansion until reaching the entrance. North of the entrance is the Pokemon Mansion. You can enter the Pokemon Mansion at any time.

    About Pokemon Mansion

    • The Pokemon Mansion is owned by Mr. Backlot, an eccentric rich man. Inside of the mansion are a few items that are yours to take, with the most notable being TM 87 which teaches the move "Swagger" to a Pokemon. Mr. Backlot, located in the first room on the right side of the mansion, tells you the story of how he saw a specific Pokemon in his Trophy Garden in the back of the mansion. The Pokemon that Backlot tells you about is then able to be caught once he tells you which one it is. The Pokemon that Backlot sees changes every day.

    Touching the Statue

    • Behind Mr. Backlot is the infamous bronze statue, watched over by a guard a majority of the time. Any attempt to touch the statue while the guard is present is stopped, as the guard exclaims "I'm sorry. Please refrain from touching the statue." However, it is possible to touch the statue, as the guard is not always present: come back to the room between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. to touch the statue freely.

    Effects of Touching the Statue

    • Upon touching the statue, the message "You got fingerprints on it..." is displayed. However, neither Mr. Backlot or his butler notice that the statue has fingerprints on it as their text does not change. If you return at a time when the guard is back, he also does not notice that the statue has fingerprints on it. Ultimately, nothing happens upon touching the statue; it is just a joke left by the developers of "Pokemon Diamond" for the players to enjoy.
