The Stalk Market is the "Animal Crossing" version of the stock market -- instead of trading stocks you trade turnips. Both red and white turnips are available for purchase from Joan each Sunday morning in the video game from Nintendo. To invest in red turnips, you must plant the seeds in the ground and dig up the turnip when it is ripe enough to be sold at a high profit margin. The longer you care for your turnip by watering it, the more money you will receive when you dig it out of the ground.

Stand in front of the turnip plant that you want to dig up.

Open your item menu and select your shovel. If you do not have a shovel, buy one from Tom Nook's store whenever it is available for purchase.

Press the action button to dig up the turnip using your shovel. If you miss the turnip, reposition yourself and press the action button again to dig it up.

Click the action button again to fill in the hole after digging up your turnip.
