How to Cut Down Small Trees on Pokemon HeartGold Version

The Nintendo DS game "Pokemon HeartGold" is a fourth-generation Pokemon video game. It was released in March 2010 along with a companion game, "Pokemon SoulSilver." In "HeartGold," the first Hidden Machine you obtain is Cut. Once you have it, you can teach the move to one of your Pokemon, which will enable it to cut down small trees.

  Play through the game as normal until you reach Ilex Forest.

  Traverse the path, heading north, until you see a boy. Upon speaking to him, you will find out that he lost two Pokemon that belong to his boss.

  Search the forest to find these Pokemon for him. They are both Farfetch'd that you must sneak up on from behind to catch. You can catch them by pressing talk, or the "A" button. Farfetch'd will automatically be returned to the boy.

  Return to the boy and watch the cut scene during which his employer arrives. Out of gratitude, the employer will give you Hidden Machine 1.

  Give your new HM to one of your Pokemon to teach it Cut. The majority of Pokemon can learn this move.

  Stand in front of a small tree and use this move to cut it down.
