How to Get Giratina in Platinum

Giratina is a Legendary Pokemon and the game mascot of "Pokemon Platinum," appearing on the game cover and most promotional material. Giratina is a Level 47 dual Ghost/Dragon-type that can be found in the Distortion World area of the game. This a strange, twisted world where the laws of physics do not apply. You access this world after defeating Team Galactic at their Veilstone City headquarters and at the Spear Pillar on top of Mount Coronet.

Instructions

  Go to Veilstone City in the east of Sinnoh and head to the Galactic Veilstone Building in the north of town, the headquarters of Team Galactic.

  Speak to the Galactic Grunt by the door to get the Storage Key, and use it to enter the Galactic Warehouse to the right of the main building. Go down three floors using the portals inside and get the Galactic Key.

  Enter the Galactic Building and go upstairs. Go through the bottom left portal to find Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic, and defeat him. He has a Level 44 Sneasel that is weak against Fighting and Fire-type attacks, a Level 44 Crobat that is weak against Electric-types and a Level 46 Honchkrow that is weak against Fighting-types.

  Step on the portal behind Cyrus and you will meet Galactic Commander Saturn. He has a Level 42 Golbat that you can beat with Electric-type attacks, a Level 42 Toxicroak that is weak to Ground-type moves, and a Level 44 Bronzor that is weak against Fire-type attacks.

  Use a Pokemon's Fly move to get to Hearthome City in the center of Sinnoh and go southwest out of town on Route 208. Head west to Mount Coronet and climb up through the caves to the Spear Pillar at the top. Here you will meet Galactic Commanders Jupiter and Mars.

  Defeat Jupiter and Mars. They each have a Level 44 Bronzor and a Level 44 Golbat, and a Level 46 Purugly and a Level 46 Skuntank that are both weak against Fighting-type moves. Watch the cut scene and follow Cynthia to the elevator to the Distortion World.

  Follow the Legendary Pokemon Mesprit and Azelf, who will guide you through the Distortion World, until you come to Galactic Boss Cyrus again. He has added a Level 46 Gyarados and a Level 45 Houndoom to his party, both of which are weak against Fighting-type attacks.

  Beat Cyrus and move forward across the three moving platforms to meet Giratina, a Level 47 dual Ghost/Dragon-type Legendary Pokemon. Use ice, ghost, dark or dragon-type attacks to wear down its health points until they are showing as a red bar, and throw a Pokeball to catch it.
