How to Form a Party in Dragon Quest IX

"Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies" is a Japanese Role-Playing Game, or RPG, developed by Square-Enix and published in North America by Nintendo of America for the Nintendo DS. While the game includes a massive single-player campaign, one of the new innovations included in this iteration of the long-running "Dragon Quest" series is multiplayer functionality which allows up to four friends to form a party and play together, each using their own DS console and copy of the game through the Nintendo DS local wireless connection.

Instructions

Creating a Party in a Single Player Game

  Go to the town of Stornway and enter the Inn, located near the entrance to the town on the left side.

  Talk to Patty, the blue-haired girl behind the counter, and select "Recruit a Friend" from the menu that appears.

  Choose the vocation of the party member, then customize the gender and look of the character. You can add three new members to the party.
Creating a Party in a Multiplayer Game

  Have a friend with another DS and copy of the game inserted and turned on.

  Travel to Stornway in the game world, enter the Inn near the entrance of the town and speak with the angel, Pavo, near the bar.

  Select "Invite Friends from Other Worlds." The DS local connection scans and connects to the other people in the room.

  Select the connections that are established with each player and press the "A" button to add them to your party. You can add up to three players to the party.
