How to Go Through the Secret Path in SoulSilver

"Pokemon SoulSilver" for the Nintendo DS is an updated version of Pokemon Silver made for the Gameboy Advance. Your ultimate goal in the game is to defeat gym leaders and catch as many Pokemon as you can. Some Pokemon are more difficult to capture than others; in order to catch the rare Pokemon Lapras, you must navigate a secret path in Union Cave. You will need a Pokemon that knows the Hidden Machine move Surf in order to wind your way through the cave.

Instructions

  Go to Azalea Town or Violet City; the Ruins of Alph are accessible from either place.

  Head south if you started in Violet City, east if you started in Azalea Town. Enter the Ruins of Alph. Take the stairs down to enter Union Cave. Go past the Firebreather; you can battle him for experience if you so desire.

  Use HM move "Surf" when you come to the small body of water in the room. Head southeast, past the Rock Climber.

  Go to the body of water in the room and Surf to the southwest. Head back onto land, then use Surf again to get across the small body of water. Head down the stairs to your right.

  Surf across the body of water you will come to after going down the stairs. Head up the stairs on the other side.

  Navigate your way to the bottom of the room, battling any trainers who oppose you. Lapras will be in the southernmost body of water in the room. Lapras is a Water and Ice type Pokemon, so it is weak against Electric and Grass types.
