How to Catch a Swablu in Pearl

The flying-type Pokemon Swablu makes a great addition to your team in the Nintendo DS game "Pokemon Pearl." Since Swablu can learn to fly, it can aid your travels immensely by making it easier for you to quickly return to towns, cities and landmark locations. Swablu also offers a tactical advantage with devastating moves such as Dragon Pulse and Perish Song, which will help you turn the tables on your opponents, as well as the ability Natural Cure, which can remove any status ailments inflicted on your Pokemon.

  Talk to Professor Rowan in Sandgem Town after completing the Sinnoh Pokedex. Rowan will congratulate you for collecting data on all 150 Pokemon in the region and offer you a gift for your efforts, the PokeRadar.

  Fly to Eterna City and take the western exit into Route 211. This route continues through Mount Coronet and leads into Celestic Town. Swablu can be found in the tall grass here, but only with the PokeRadar.

  Enter the tall grass and open the main menu. Select the PokeRadar in your Key Items pocket. (You can set this item to the 'Y' button for easy use if you want to). If successful, you will find that a patch of grass shakes; if not, keep using the PokeRadar until it does.

  Walk directly into the moving patch of grass and a battle will begin. It may require multiple attempts to encounter Swablu since there are many other Pokemon in this area. Be persistent and you eventually will find the flying-type Pokemon.

  Fight the wild Swablu but make sure that it doesn't faint. Use moves like False Swipe that deal damage but allow the Pokemon to survive. Alternatively, use attacks that induce status ailments such as Sleep or Poison to weaken the Swablu. Use a Poke Ball or Great Ball to capture the wild Pokemon.
