Repair Instructions
Regardless of the outward damage that your DSi might have sustained, always make sure the system still turns on. If there is no outer damage, then make sure that the touch screen and button functions work. In the event of the touch screen not working, try re-calibrating it by going to "Settings" on the DSi main menu. This will start a process to check and reset the functionality of the touch screen sensitivity. If the system does not turn on, then it must be sent to Nintendo for repair.
In order to see all the options for troubleshooting the DSi, go to Nintendo's official website and select "Support" on the main bar. From there, select the DSi and click on "Troubleshooting and Repairs." You can then go through the options ranging from screen issues to questions about the warranty.
In the event of a crack on the screen or loosening of the hinge with the result of dropping the console, you can utilize the 12-month warranty. Nintendo offers 12 months of coverage on the system from the day you purchase the console. As long as the DSi doesn't have any defective properties upon purchase, Nintendo will fix it for free, providing you have the original receipt. You can extend the warranty an additional 90 days if you sign up with Club Nintendo.
In the event you can not troubleshoot the issue or simply do not know what to do next, go to the repair options section. There you will be able to enter your DSi serial number, which contains either "TW" or "WW," followed by nine numbers. After you enter this, Nintendo will provide you with instructions on how to ship the item to them. Though it make take a few weeks to repair the console, it is far better than trying to do it yourself -- especially if the issue is too complicated. When shipping the item, include the system, original receipt and any pieces of the system that may have broken off.
