How to Unlock the Beyond the Sea Pokewalker Route

The "Beyond the Sea" Pokewalker route is a special level that can only be unlocked with a Pokemon trade with someone in a distant nation in "Pokemon HeartGold" or "Pokemon SoulSilver." For example, if you live in the United States, receiving a Pokemon from Sweden, Madagascar or Canada over the GTS opens the mission. If searching for Water-type Pokemon while on the "Beyond the Sea" mission, you just keep the Pokewalker in your pocket. You never know what fishy monsters lurk below the waves in this route.

Instructions

- 1
  Capture a Pokemon to send away through the Global Trade Station. Look for a Pokemon that is rare or nonexistent in other versions, such as Baltoy and Phanpy in "Pokemon HeartGold" or Delibird and Mawile in "Pokemon SoulSilver."

  Take the Pokemon to the GTS building located in Goldenrod City. The Global Terminal is located in a tall blue building on the far west of the city.

  Enter the building and talk to the woman behind the counter on the far side of the room to initiate a global trade. Offer your Pokemon for trade in exchange any of the creatures that you have met over the course of your adventure.

  Check back in a few hours to see if you have received a Pokemon trade by talking to the woman again. If you received a Pokemon from a foreign nation, the "Beyond the Sea" Pokewalker route becomes available for use.

  Choose the "Beyond the Sea" level on your Nintendo DS before you send over a favorite Pokemon to the Pokewalker. Grass and Electric-type Pokemon will fare especially well against the Water-type Pokemon that live in the sea.
