How to Read Braille in Sapphire

When players first opened their copies of "Pokemon Sapphire," they found the usual contents of a Pokemon game case: the game, the instruction booklet and, in many cases, some kind of advertisement for future Nintendo games. Players also found something unexpected: a Braille chart. This was a clue that there would be certain segments of "Pokemon Sapphire" and its counterpart, "Pokemon Ruby," wherein the player would have to translate Braille to get to the next area or solve puzzles.

Instructions

    • 1

Approach any of the tablets with Braille on them and read them to see the pattern of Braille segments. Keep the dialogue box open so you can translate it.

    • 2

Get the Braille chart that came with your copy of "Pokemon Sapphire." The chart shows what each letter of the alphabet looks like in Braille. Each letter is made up of two columns of three spaces, for a total of six spaces. Each space may be filled with a raised bump. For example, the letter "A" is one raised bump on the top of the left column.

    • 3

Compare the Braille segments in the dialogue box to the Braille chart to translate the tablets. Write down each letter on a piece of paper to form the words on the tablet. Each tablet has a short message that gives a clue for how to proceed.
